Specialist in raw material purchasing

Blas Espinola, Mechatronics grad, joined LEONI in 2019. Currently a Procurement Analyst in Logistics.

My story at LEONI

I am Blas Espinola. I joined LEONI on February 5, 2019, and graduated as a Mechatronics Technician. Currently, I am completing my degree in Electronic Engineering. I entered LEONI as an engineering intern through a university internship program. Now, I work as a Procurement Analyst in Logistics. Starting as an intern in 2019, I developed my technical knowledge and was recognized for my quick adaptation and photographic memory. This led to a promotion to planner in the cutting area, optimizing machine performance and ensuring production line continuity. Eventually, I applied for and obtained the Procurement Analyst position, where I manage raw material acquisition for the cutting area and production lines from suppliers like TE Connectivity and ACOME.

This is my job

Start of the day: I start my work activities at 06:00 am, first I check the pending and critical of the line for the week, based on the final list I elaborate a follow-up procedure depending on the criticality of each item.

Morning: Follow-up of my suppliers based on the criticality list analyzed at the beginning of the day. Identification of possible suppliers or items that may affect the production lines in order to carry out the relevant escalations and take contingency actions to avoid line stoppages.

Lunch time: Before going out for lunch, I receive all the information from the suppliers to have specifically identified the points to prioritize so that what escapes my hands, I can analyze it with my leader in the daily meeting of critics and be able to find a solution together. I head to the rest area to take advantage of the new chef's menu that they put on us at LEONI.

Afternoon: with the work done during the morning, I send all the pertinent documentation to the customs area so that they can make the pickup of the day and thus, be able to update my worksheet of materials in transit. End of the day: I go to the university where I am 4 more hours, and then I get home to play sports and enjoy a delicious dinner. Once finished, I proceed to prepare my uniform for the next day.

My highlight

The best moments are based on those where I was promoted, each promotion made me feel very valuable to the company and gave me enormous satisfaction.

My view of LEONI as an employer

I chose to apply at LEONI because the profile they were looking for matched me exactly, and I was right because I was selected quickly, a choice driven by friends and colleagues who also worked here and had an excellent opinion about the plant and the faculty they have in teamwork and the constant openness to growth opportunities.

The work culture at LEONI is characterized by attention to the needs of employees, respect for others, being results-oriented, and fostering teamwork.

I value the possibility that I have daily to connect with people from all over the world through my suppliers, not to mention the constant contact that I have with procurements of other LEONI plants in the world, which allows cultural exchange and mutual growth.
